How do I register my charity?

You can apply to register a new or existing charity online. Once you've completed the first six screens, you'll receive a reference number which allows you to save your application and come back to it at any time.

You'll need to provide the following information in your application:

  • your charity's name
  • names and addresses of your trustees (the people who run your charity)
  • a governing document (setting out how your charity is run)
  • proof that its yearly income will be more than £5,000 (eg bank statements)
  • proof that your charity is only going to do charitable work
  • proof that your charity will provide public benefit

You should read our guidance on registering a charity before you start.
